Peggy's flowery outfit

Today I made a skirt and top for my Peggy Harcourt doll. The tulle part of the skirt is covered with embroidered flowers and grasses. I cut out two branches with flowers to use as shoulder straps for the top. The underskirt and top are made of jersey. The jersey turned out to be too thick to use for the skirt, the waist is far too bulky. The sewed on waist band covers this, but unfortunately it shows at the closure on the back. I used a snap fastener, but should have used a button and an elastic loop instead. But, I'm quite pleased with the overall look of this outfit, it has a sunny vibe :-).

  3. Hallo Linda! Peggy heeft een prachtige jurk aan, heel apart door die geborduurde tule op de overjurk. Bovendien is de top door de borduursels langs de bandjes bijzonder toepasselijk voor bij dit warme hoogzomerse weer ;)!
    Fijn weekend!
    Groetjes, Ilona

  4. Wonderful outfit you made! I love the colours and pattern. It doesn't look to bulky on the photo, looks like it fits perfectly.

    1. Hello Kamelia, thank you very much :-)! In the back it is such a thick layer of fabrics that it is showing from the side. I will use very thin fabric in the future for underskirts, and no more snap fasteners. Luckily it doesn't show in the front :-). I agree, Peggy is a real beauty :-).

  7. i love that dress, it's really elegant and original. i imagine peggy taking off her shoes (which are beautiful as well) and dancing. her dress would get lifted, which is due to centrifugal force when you spin over yourself. maybe you've given me an idea for my blog. :)
    hugs!

  11. Hi Linda,
Great job! Love the embroidered fabric you used for the skirt, it was unfortunate that the jersey was too thick. Still the dress looks very elegant and springlike. :)

  16. It looks like it fits her beautifully. I love the fabric and the colours on her. And that embroidery on the skirt is quite intricate and complex. You have good sewing skills! I wish I could sew like that. Nothing I sew ever turns out properly. It gets frustrating.

    1. Hello Alasse, thank you! I agree, this dress looks good on Peggy, she is the type to wear such colours and style :-).
My sewing skills are very amateurish, and the finishing is never good enough to be honest. There is not one garment that I've sewn that looks perfect, there's always a flaw somewhere :-). But I like sewing, so I keep trying to do better :-). I don't use existing patterns, but I should, so everything fits perfectly. Don't give up, it's so nice to see a doll in an outfit you made yourself, even with flaws.
