A dress and pillows

It was a hot day today, 29°C still at 18u30. I sat at my desk this evening, trying to keep cool, and hand sewed a dress for Eve to wear in the next episode of Whitherville. Stitched with a machine the seams look better, but I enjoyed sewing it by hand. I still need to steam iron the dress, but it was too hot so I will do it later.

Eve is posing on 60 x 60 cm pillows I made last year for our couch. I had just enough of the fabric to make the two fronts of the pillows. The backs are made from a fabric without the floral pattern. I love the embroidered flowers and the spicy colours :-).

Tia will get a matching dress. I still have some time to make it, because she's not in the next episode.

  1. the dress you made is beautiful. i love the ribbon on the chest. :) eve looks very confortable lying on those soft pillows.
by the way, 29潞C is really hot for such a northern country as belgium, specially considering that it's not summer yet. the ironing can wait, indeed. ;)

    1. Hello chema, thank you :-)! It is hot, especially for May :-). I will have to iron soon though, I have a pile of clothes waiting to be ironed (I hate ironing, even when it's cold lol!).

    1. Hello Aya, we do, and it's going to last until Wednesday! For me a bit less hot would be better :-). I hope you have sun and warmth as well because you love it! I'm glad you like the dress :-).

  3. Beautiful dress, but I can understand your reluctance to do anything in 29 degrees! I think it was around 22 here - perfect really!

  4. Very pretty dress! I really like the pillow too. Many pillows don't have the pattern on the back, so your pillow is perfect!

    1. Hello Phyllis, thanks! Next thing I would like to try are curtains, although I've never stitched such huge surfaces before :-).

    2. Did you do the embroidery?? I thought you bought it that way! I have made simple curtains. Would you machine sew or hand sew? Tell me more about your plans. I am very curious!

    3. Hello Phyllis, I didn't do the embroidery, I bought it that way. I meant stitching on the machine of such long pieces of fabric as curtains, it seems difficult to work precise and keep a straight line on such big surfaces. If I would embroider something, it would be something small to begin with, and not complicated :-).

  7. That's a lovely dress. And the colour is nice.
The floral pattern is really great.
Somehow it made me think of Kashubian embroidery though it looks different. :)

    1. Hello Nana, thank you! I looked up Kashubian embroidery, and I've seen it before but didn't know it was called that way :-). I love beautiful embroidery, and would like to make something myself in the near future. I learnt it in school as a child, on such stiff peaces of fabric with rather large holes, and with a darning needle. I enjoyed it even back then!

  8. Very elegant dress. It is easier to me to sew for dolls by hand, I am leaving sewing on the machine for big clothes. Have a nice week.:)

Groetjes :-)

The dress is looking great. I like the colour and style. It goes well with her. And that pillow fabric is really lovely.

    1. Hello Alasse, I liked Giselle a bit better than Agnes from this set (Sister Moguls), although I like both face molds :-). I hope you will find one this year! I'm glad you like the dress and the fabric of the pillows. The twin sisters always wear matching clothes, so I'm going to make one for my other Giselle with a bow in the back :-).
