Ragnar and Bresser photo studio daylight set

A Coomodel body that was waiting lonely in a box finally has a head: Ragnar, from the TV series "Vikings".

The tattoos on his head are awesome!

The braids on top of his head are molded, the ponytail is made of "real" hair.

The clothing set I bought for my Tom Hiddleston figure looks good on Ragnar as well. The shoes don't fit for either of them. I have to remove the feet to put on the shoes. Even without feet Ragnar can stand on his own, so it's not a problem.

Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok
Gnarar Krothbol?

The likeness could have been better. Mini Ragnar looks older and the facial features seem off here and there. But I like the face a lot as it is!

Ragnar was the test action figure to try out my new Bresser daylight lamps.

I used two of the lamps for this photo shoot. The lamps have a colour temperature of 5500 kelvin, which is equal to normal daylight. I took the photos when it was dark outside and under the chandelier of my dining table, with a lamp left and right pointed at Ragnar.

I need to experiment with the lamps indoors in daylight as well, and with different options of my camera, but I'm quite happy with these first results :-).

It is a very interesting topic! I learnt something new too :-). Low kelvin is soft light, high kelvin is very strong light. It's a start to learn more about photography as well!

  12. I have not yet ventured into the land of action figures, but looking at posts like this, it becomes increasingly tempting! As far as your lamps are concerned, I have been eyeing lamps similar to the ones you pictured here. I love the results you got for this shoot. Would love to see you give us all a front row seat to your future experiments with them!

    1. Hello April, it's a whole different world with so much variations and choices! I only buy the cheaper bodies, but companies like Hot Toys make amazing figures. They are expensive, but so beautiful!
The lamps are excellent so far! The next time I'll use all three and see how that looks. I'll certainly will keep you up to date :-).
PS: I'm sorry that I wasn't clear about this but I am Linda from Darkroom Dolls :-). I saw my name in your post along with Billa's and Marta's, I was really touched. I miss Billa and Marta too, I hope they are alright and wish they would blog again :-). Big hugs! Linda

    2. Oh, I am so happy to learn you are still there as you were always someone whose blog I really enjoyed. I don't know what's happened to Marta. She was posting on Instagram for a while but that seems to have stopped. Billa follows me on Facebook (under a different name), but for whatever reason, she has stopped posting. Again--nice to know you are still around and posting! Big hugs.

    3. Hi April, thank you so much for the kind words :-) <3.
I'm glad to read Billa follows you on Facebook :-). I worried about Marta because it's so unlike her to just stop being around on internet.

  17. He looks so real and so "male"! And although it is quite a contradiction being dressed in such an elegant outfit, wuth that shiny white shirt and those black troussers with belt against his tatoos, scars and hairdresser, it really fits in very gladly, I really like his look!! Good to know that a head has a body and viceversa!
    Best wishes

    1. Hello Rosana, I like this look too, it's not stereotypical but it suits him I think :-). Hahaha, yes, the body is happy, and so is the head! I had a new body in mind for Ragnar, but this that I already had, is fine :-). It's fun to be able to switch bodies and heads for these figures! Big hugs!

    3. Hello Sam, I'm sometimes amazed at how realistic these faces are! To paint them must be very difficult! I don't know if you know Noel Cruz? He repaints celebrity dolls. His work is magnificent! If you google him and go to images, you see a lot of his repaints before and after.

  24. Hello! :) I have followed the series "Vikings" since the beginning and I think it is amazing that a actor as Travis Fimmel, born in Australia, is acting as a Swedish jarl.
The doll is beautiful, but not so much alike though. Enjoyed the wonderful photos!
    Happy weekend!

    1. Hello Niina, I bought the first season but didn't watch it yet. I saw some bits while my husband was watching it. Travis Fimmel must be a great actor if he can portray a Viking so well, being Australian! I had never heard of him before.
The doll doesn't resemble the actor very much, but I like the doll's face as it is :-). With action figure heads it's sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss, I watch the photos of the seller very closely before buying one!
I'm glad you enjoyed the photos :-).
      Have a happy weekend too!
