More characters and accessories for "Whitherville"

This blog year I'm totally focusing on my upcoming photo story "Whitherville". Every doll or prop I buy, every outfit I find or make, it will all be for the story. I really would like to publish the first episode in the first half of this year, so I'm doing what I can to make that happen.

The story itself is ready. It's edited, I divided the story in blog episodes and added descriptions of the photos I need to take to the text.

The first diorama, a living room, is in the making, but I need to make or find some more things to bring life to it, such as plants, lamps, decoration and so on. Unfortunately I only have limited time to spend on the diorama due to the move to our new home, so I've done some shopping for the characters.

A new addition to the Whitherville cast is Four from Divergent. I found him on sale on Amazon. He's articulated, I like his face, and he has real hair (yay!). In the story his name is Jack. He's a  freelance photographer for the newspaper "The Whitherville Daily".

Another newcomer is Tom Hiddleston. I put this head on a cheap body. The muscular body doesn't pose as well as I would like it to, but it will have to do. Meet detective Marc Van Steen, partner of detective Natalie McGovern:

"Don't mess with me buddy."

A comparison: the Daryl head on a tall narrow shoulders Coomodel body, the Tom head on a muscular normal body (brand unknown). I like the difference in height and build, it adds realism.
Detective Van Steen will wear this black suit, which is on the way.

For a photo story with many photo scenes obviously a lot of props are needed, so I search for bargains to avoid bankruptcy ;-) . This My Scene cabriolet is second hand and was a steal. It's in used condition but still looks very good! I really like this car, it has such nice details, and even the two coffee cups from the original set are still present.

The car key is removable, the car has two holders for coffee cups and there's a GPS system (partly visible behind the mirror).
On the way is a Viking head, which I love! It needs a body, but I'm waiting for the actual head to arrive to find a matching color. The character's name is Wayne. I think the tattoos on his head are awesome :-).

I also found this Made To Move cutie on sale on Amazon. Her character name is Siobhan.

I bought the blue Vespa from the same seller as the cabriolet. I just couldn't resist this bargain :-).
And last but not least: this miniature bible is for father Kyle Nolan, priest of Whitherville Church:

The 1/6 scale bible is readable.

I also gave the witch Bree a body transplant. She now has a Made To Move body for the time being, because witches need to be flexible! She wears fabulous shoes made by Monika Bawaj from Planeta Parczun. The shoes were a little Christmas gift I gave to myself ;-).

    1. Hello Chema, I like Siobhan's freckles too! I have to admit that I know nothing of the Divergent series, but I like the dolls :-). The bible is so small and realistic, I love miniature books! It's a lot smaller than a pocket book and the text is only readable with a magnifying glass.
      I hope you'll like the story :-)

    2. Oh Chema, I misread about the pocket book, now I see the joke :-D!

  4. Wow, so many characters! I hope I can remember who is who. :)
If your story was a movie I'm sure it would be a blockbuster.
I'm really curious about Tom as a detective. In my opinion this actor should be the next Bond.
And now we both have the redhead MtM. :) She's pretty popular.

    1. Hello Nana, the group of main characters is not that large, the others are "supporting actors" lol. But the detective is a main character.
Tom Hiddleston would be a perfect James Bond, but I think he's out of the running for that role. I liked him in The Night Manager and Crimson Peak very much!
Yes, the redhead MTM was a must have for me :-). It's crazy that I finally had to buy her in the USA!

    1. Hello Giac, I know what you mean, some action figures and dolls are so well made! I particularly love the details in the faces of action figures, they look so real :-).
I don't know if you are familiar with Asian ball jointed dolls (or BJDs), usually made of resin. Some of these doll companies make incredibly lifelike dolls (for example DollShe, Granado, ...), they look like humans on photos!
I hope you'll enjoy my story!
      Big hugs back x

    1. Hello Barb, I like the Tom H. head, but I agree that it doesn't look like the actor's! His face must be difficult to recreate in 1/6 scale, because none of the Tom Hiddleston heads available look exactly like him :-). I hope you will like the story and characters :-).

  16. You have me HOOKED too! Your storyline sound fascinating and your cast of characters will provide PLENTY of action in the small town of Whitherville. It is amazing how interesting individual stories can be, and when you put them all together in one place- Lots of Tension and Drama - YIPEE- can't wait!

  17. I totally get where you are coming from on getting a doll story started. I actually started to plan mine for Hanaly Corners in 2014 and so far have only done character development. I was stalled by a few things, but now that I am working on my dedicated doll room, I hope to start back on my story line soon. I am so impressed that you have already written your story and have everything planned out! I seem to be more of a "fly by the seat of my pants" story writer!

    1. Hi Phyllis, my story is about 17 episodes long and has an ending, unlike ongoing stories like the fantastic One Sixth Avenue (of which I am a huge fan!). I made a script on paper with detailed descriptions of the scenes. This is a great help. Making the dioramas is a lot of work, but I hope to publish the first episode in April.
I'm very curious about your characters! It's so much fun creating them isn't it! I think your new doll room will be very inviting for creativity :-).
