Couch

Em is testing the couch I made. I think she finds it comfortable. This is how it looks in a diorama:

The spots on the couch front are from the glue I used. I'm not sure what to do about it. Maybe I'll just leave it this way.

I also made pillows to add some colour to the pale couch.

In our local Moroccan supermarket I bought these two miniature readable Korans.

They are a perfect doll size!

I used wrapping paper for the walls and floor by the way. It's very thin but I like the effect.

The sideboard is a cardboard Japanese miniature. I found it in a thrift store.

This diorama still needs a window with a view and curtains, some more plants, a carpet and some paintings on the walls. I'm going to try to use cinnamon sticks and Icelandic moss to make one of the plants.

That's it for today! :-)

    1. Hello Balbinka, thank you, I'm glad you like it, and the colour scheme :-). It needs accessories, so I'm "hunting" for miniature sculptures, lamps, more books, ...
I hope the materials will work for the plants, especially the moss! It's very nice but fragile.

  3. em's living room looks like a very warm place. the couch is perfect, and i wouldn't have noticed the spots if you hadn't mentioned them. as for em testing it, it reminds me of when i was going to buy a new mattress. the shop assistants always tell you: "lie down on the mattress so you can test it, don't be shy!" :)

    1. Hello Chema, thanks! I'm glad you didn't notice the spots. I think I'm leaving it as it is. Ah yes, I bought a new mattress last year and I tried a lot of them in the shop :-D! The plastic covers weren't great to lie down on, but I did find a perfect mattress :-).

  4. Wow, your diorama looks awesome! Don't worry, the spots aren't noticeable. I had the same problem with a couch for EAH. The glue soaked through the fabric but probably I used too much glue. And I hope your moss doesn't smell. I once used some moss for decoration and it was stinky. I really like the pillows and those miniature Korans are so detailed.

    1. Hello Nana, thanks! I'm glad you like it :-).
I think I'll use darker colours in the future to camouflage the glue, but I'm glad it isn't that obvious.
The moss does smell! I just put my nose in the package and it smells sour! I'll use the plant just for pictures and then put it in quarantine lol!

  5. Great coach! If you didn't tell about spots, I don't think I would notice... ;) I love the colour. Walls look great. I think with the accessories you are talking about the living room will be just perfect. :)

    1. Hello Kamelia, thanks! I'm glad you like it! The wrapping paper is very thin and not durable, but I really like it, it could be "real" wallpaper :-).

  6. Hello Millicent,
The diorama looks lovely. I think you did a fantastic job on the couch. I did not notice the spots in the picture until you pointed them out. I will bet if you put a coffee table in front of it, and maybe one or 2 dolls sitting there, nobody will ever notice. The 2 Korans you purchased are very beautiful.
    Big hug

    1. Hello Giac, thank you :-)! You're right, the spots will be less noticeable once the room is filled with other things. I really like the Korans. These readable miniature books are so great, after the Bible and the Korans, I would like to find other books as well!
      Big hugs back!

The strange thing is that I used glue for fabric afterwards and it stained too. I'm glad it's not that obvious :-).

  11. Diorama zapowiada się interesująco! Jasna kanapa do bardzo dobry pomysł, zawsze będzie do wszystkiego pasować, a jeśli będzie potrzeba zmian, wystarczy zmienić kolor dodatków i poduszek :)
    Pozdrawiam serdecznie :)

  12. Wonderful! *claps* I really love the mod style of this room. The couch is lovely. I'm making one currently for the San Franciscan and I want a very similar style but with a chaise at one end. I'll be referring back to your post for inspiration. :) The use of wrapping paper was a great idea. Maybe coat it with Matte Modge Podge or a sealer to help protect it if it's thin. That cardboard sideboard is super cool and the Koran's are wonderful. Oh, and Em.. what a beautiful doll. :)

    1. Hi Sam, thank you! I'm glad you like it :-). It's a good idea to coat the wrapping paper, it's rather fragile! I'm very happy with the sideboard, especially since it only cost 75 euro cents (92 dollar cents) :-).

  14. Wonderful coach!! So well done! But I don't like the cushions very much. I think the colour is not very "happy", SORRY!!! Nevertheless, all the work in general is great, when you add a window and curtains in the diorama, it will be great!

    1. Hello Rosana, thank you, I'm glad you like the couch! We all have different tastes in colours, and I appreciate your opinion :-)! I'm looking for a suitable "view" for the window, as soon as I found a nice one I'm putting the window on the wall. I also am going to buy a "daylight" lamp soon, so my pictures look less gloomy!
Dikke kussen terug! Besos amiga :-)
